Winners of the 34th Annual BILD Awards

Last week, the Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) and more than 1,100 industry professionals celebrated the 34th annual BILD Awards.
Out of hundreds of nominations, only 47 emerged victorious. Mattamy Homes took home the prestigious Home Builder of the Year Award. According to BILD, “This award highlights the builder who sets the standard for the rest of the industry by their leadership in improving the overall image of building and development in the GTA. A key component of the judging process is a customer satisfaction survey, completed by dozens of recent occupants of the builder's communities.”
TAS and Empire Communities were the recipients of the Green Builder of the Year Awards. TAS won for the high-rise category, as they have made a commitment to build all future projects to LEED Silver Standards. As Ontario’s leading ENERGY STAR builder, Empire Communities won for the low-rise category.
The Project of the Year Awards were taken by Great Gulf and Treasure Hill Corporation. Great Gulf’s Yonge+Rich condo development won in the high-rise category, and Treasure Hill’s Urban Towns at Bayview was selected as the low-rise winner.
Best High-Rise Building Design was presented to Tridel for Aqualina at Bayside, the first residential phase of the Bayside Toronto master-plan in the East Bayfront neighbourhood.
The biggest winners of the night, when considering the amount of awards won, were Geranium Homes and Minto. Geranium Homes won four awards, all in the low-rise category: Best Email Marketing Piece, Best P2G Community of the Year, Best Salesperson or Team, and Best Social Media Campaign. All of Minto’s awards were also in the low-rise category: Best Brochure, Best Direct Mail, Best Project Logo, and Best Website.
There was also a special presentation where Greenpark Homes’ Chairman and CEO Carlo Baldassarra was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest honour bestowed by BILD.
"It is a privilege to present Carlo with this prestigious award," said BILD President and CEO Bryan Tuckey. "He is an industry champion who has given so much to our association and to communities throughout the GTA."
