Looks like “The Great One” (aka Wayne Gretzky) is expecting an impressive pay day. Having reached a tentative deal on the millions owed to him as the former head coach and director of hockey operations for the Phoenix Coyotes is not the only big thing to happen for him as of late. About $7-8 million richer (according to ESPN), the legendary hockey star has also recently put his townhome in Thousand Oaks, CA for sale.
Originally purchased in March 2000, the home is within the Sherwood Country Club. Speculation has it that the home may have been purchased as a way for Gretzky to test out the country club-lifestyle. Not his only property in the area, Gretzky had also custom built an estate which was designed by renowned architect Richard Landry two years later. Having sold that home in 2007 for $18.5 million, this is his last remaining property there, but not for long!
The 3,758 square foot home is listed for just $1.899 million! With a 30-year fixed mortgage and 20 percent down, you could be paying the small price of $7,500 a month! It’s really a bargain if you consider the benefits.
For just over $500/square foot you’ll get: four bedrooms and four baths, and a priceless view of Lake Sherwood as well as the Santa Monica Mountains. Don’t forget to pack your golf clubs because the home comes with a membership to the club and access to all of its amenities, and not to mention the bragging rights of living in The Great One’s old home! The estimated market value is about $1,459,762 according to www.zillow.com, but your friends’ envy is worth the extra cash, right?
