Top 5 Best Selling Cities for New Homes in the GTA
By Lucas on May 05, 2015
The latest Trimart report highlights the top five highest selling Greater Toronto Area cities for new low-rise homes. Unsurprisingly, Brampton is in first, followed by Milton, Barrie, Richmond Hill, and Toronto (in descending order). The only thing about this list that is shocking is that Oakville isn’t mentioned. We’re positive that after the high number of spring releases and openings, Oakville will creep up into the top five.
Listed below are a few notable low-rise sites of the last month:
St. John's Forest - via Mattamy Homes
Taking the top position on this week’s Trimart Hot Spots report is St. John’s Forest, a very successful community in Aurora by Mattamy Homes. There were 41 sales at St. John’s Forest last year, with a wide range of detached homes available on 30’, 36’, 45’, and 50’ lots. The homes ranged from 1,702 to 4,242 square feet. You will have to stay tuned for prices because Mattamy Homes is getting ready to launch another new release very soon!
Treetops - via Brookfield Homes
Coming in second with 11 sales last month is Treetops, an Alliston community by Brookfield Residential. Treetops features 32’, 36’, 40’, and 49’ detached homes, ranging from 1,600 to 3,000 square feet. Prices start at just $367,990, a pretty great price point for a detached home.
Parkwood - via Monarch
The third spot is snagged by Parkwood, a townhome community in Scarborough by Monarch Group (which was recently acquired by Mattamy Homes). There were only nine sales at Parkwood last month, but there could only be nine because the community sold out! Prices for these luxury townhomes were starting at $551,990. Watch out for other Monarch communities planned for Scarborough.
Uptownes - via Geranium Homes
Coming in fourth, we have another sold out community. With eight sales recently, Uptownes by Geranium Homes sold out in Stouffville. These back-to-back stacked townhome designs were a twist on traditional townhome living, and it was obviously a big hit! Stouffville is another one of those areas that you should keep an eye on this year. We won’t be surprised if it sneaks up close to the top five by the end of the year.
Towns of Don Mills - via Winfield
Speaking of back-to-back townhomes, Winfield Residential saw seven sales at their community, the Towns of Don Mills in Toronto. These back-to-back townhomes range from 1,080 to 1,459 square feet, with prices starting at $509,990. The average price for a townhome is rising as expected, as more and more families turn to the housing type as an affordable alternative to detached living.
