The shovels are in the ground at Belle Aire Shores in Innisfil!

The heavy rainfall earlier this week wasn’t enough to keep us away from the groundbreaking celebration at Belle Aire Shores in Innisfil! The presidents of Fernbrook Homes, Pristine Homes, and Zancor Homes were joined by Innisfil councillors and the mayor, Gord Wauchope, to commemorate the community milestone.

“I am very confident that this will be a great community, it’s going to be the star of Innisfil,” Wauchope announced before putting the first shovel in the dirt. “We have Friday Harbour to the north and now we have Belle Aire Shores down in the south. We look forward to working with you and making this a great community.”

When Phase 1 of Belle Aire Shores launched, it sold out during the preview weekend! There were 175 homes available between the three builders. Now that construction has started, the purchasers of Phase 1 are expected to close early 2018.

With prices for a new low-rise home on the rise in Greater Toronto Area (GTA), many families are recognizing the potential in Innisfil. There’s room to grow and a lot of the family amenities you need on a daily basis are already established. Also, the new proposed GO Station near Belle Aire Shores is a sign of Innisfil’s bright future.

“I know without Belle Aire Shores being here, the GO Train would have been a lot longer coming than it is, and within the next two to three years, with a GO Train station here, I’d love to see some high-rises like you have down in Vaughan - or close to it - so we can have people living here, and shopping and able to catch the GO Train down to the city,” said Wauchope.

Clearly, the mayor has an ambitious vision for Innisfil, and Belle Aire Shores is playing a strong role. On the same day of the groundbreaking, news of the Innisfil-Uber arrangement broke, which only spurs the excitement about the town’s future development.

Innisfil will be the first municipality in Canada to integrate Uber into its public transit strategy. Instead of spending taxpayer money on buses and bus drivers, Innisfil will be covering the cost of Uber trips, and the passenger will still be paying a small fee, similar to purchasing a token or a transfer in Toronto. It’s innovative moves like this that are attracting families from all across Ontario.   

“The pent up demand for this site is incredible - there’s tons of interest,” said Domenic DiGenova, VP of Construction, Zancor Homes. “Buyers are coming from all over; they’re coming from downtown Toronto, they’re coming from Richmond Hill, from all around.”

It’s become common to see long lineups outside sales centres, sometimes days before a new low-rise opening. The lineup creates a sense of urgency that many buyers find uncomfortable. Fernbrook, Pristine, and Zancor are taking a more controlled approach to their openings.

“We try to contain the crowds, we don’t promote the lining up and the camping out,” DiGenova explained. “Our sales environment is very controlled in the sense that all appointments are managed from a database and everyone has a certain time slot to browse the product and make a purchase.”

Speaking of openings, Phase 3 is scheduled to be released this fall! The new collection will feature 36’, 42’, and 50’ detached homes.
