The marina at Friday Harbour is now complete!

Last week, we had the opportunity to drive up to Innisfil for a Milestone Celebration at the resort community Friday Harbour, where ConDrain Group, Geranium Corporation, Optus Capital, and Pemberton Group were celebrating the completion of one of Canada’s largest inland marinas.
Over 3,000 guests attended the celebration, including the families of the 450+ purchasers at Friday Harbour, community members, and many distinguished guests, including Barrie MPP Ann Hoggarth; York-Simcoe MPP Julia Munro; Simcoe County Warden Gerry Marshall; Mayor of Innisfil Gord Wauchope; Deputy Mayor of Barrie Mike McCann and York Region Chairman and CEO Wayne Emmerson.
There were many food trucks onsite serving up lunch, and giant inflatables where most of the kids played. The highlight of the day, aside from the commemorative flag raising and opening of the marina, was watching the two-time Juno award-winning artist Jim Cuddy perform for everyone under a big white tent at the edge of the marina.
Mayor of Innisfil Gord Wauchope
“Thank you to Friday Harbour partners for believing that Innisfil was the place for this magnificent resort, which has already provided tremendous economic benefits to our town,” said Wauchope. When Friday Harbour is complete, it will not only be a very popular destination point but it will also provide 1,000 permanent jobs onsite and 1,500 jobs offsite - plus nearly 8,000 person years will have gone into construction in total.
“On behalf of the government of Ontario, I am delighted to extend warm wishes to everyone attending the marina celebration of Friday Harbour resort,” said Hoggarth on behalf of Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne. “Today, you gather to recognize the visionaries and builders who have worked to make this concept a reality. I join you in celebrating the power of collaboration.”
In addition to ConDrain, Geranium, Optus Capital, and Pemberton, there have been many other organizations and individuals involved to reach this milestone. The Ministry of Natural Resources ensured that a replanting program be set in place to support the endangered butternut tree species. The Friday Harbour team worked with the Town of Innisfil and the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority to launch a pilot project to use the most efficient and effective water treatment technologies. When we first visited the marina basin before the flooding commenced, we had the chance to meet Jo-Anne Lane, the principal with Beacon Environmental, and she explained the process behind creating the fish habitats in the marina to support existing and new wildlife. Clearly, there were a lot of cooks in the kitchen, but it has all paid off!
Boaz Feiner addressing the crowd
“It was January 2014 when momentum surrounding Friday Harbour really picked up as Geranium Corporation and Optus Capital joined forces with ConDrain Group and Pemberton Group,” said Boaz Feiner, Geranium Corporation. “The new partnership’s main objective was then, and remains today, to put Friday Harbour on the radar of the six million people who live within a 90 minute radius of this incredible waterfront location.”
The homes of Friday Harbour
There is a wide variety of home types available at Friday Harbour, including Boardwalk Condos and units in the Marina Village, as well as Harbour Flats and Island and Marina Towns. The condo units are available in floor plans ranging from studios to penthouses, and the Harbour Flats offer plans ranging from one-bedroom to three-bedroom. The Island and Marina Towns will be built out on the marina and each unit will come with a boat slip!
Phase 1 is well under way with construction about two storeys high, but Friday Harbour is a huge 600-acre master-planned resort style community, so it’s still in its early stages. Now is the time to get in on the project!
The Friday Harbour sales centre is located at Eagles Nest Golf Club in Maple at 10000 Dufferin Street. You can call 647-351-0991 for more information about all the amazing amenities that the community has to offer.
