The Greater Toronto Area (GTA) is getting a new “festival-style” home event called HomeFest, organized and managed by the Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD) and Toronto Home Shows.
“HomeFest was inspired by today’s changing society,” says Festival Manager Tina Holmes. “Consumers are increasingly looking for experiences, rather than things. We wanted to create an event that plays on those experiences that will provide a purpose to the way people are living. We are listening to our community. HomeFest was created as an event that appeals to helping consumers transform their houses into homes, while reflecting the way they live. The festival aims to allow our attendees to connect and interact in meaningful ways, something that is more important than ever. We want to show our visitors different ways to adapt their space and home to fit their lifestyle in a fun and engaging environment - one that activates consumer engagement.”
Targeting all five senses with a focus on the heart of the home - the kitchen - HomeFest will help homeowners celebrate and curate their homes to match their lifestyles. While the kitchen will be an important theme, there will also be other vendors showcasing a wide range of products related to interior design and home decor.
When it comes to the “tailored experiences” mentioned in the recent HomeFest release, Holmes says they “will include everything from live, hands-on demos, pop-ups to unique kitchen spaces. All will be specifically customized to the various ways people live in their home to their lifestyle or current lifecycle.”
“The interactions are created to be unique and focus on one-on-one experiences,” she adds. “As an example, if you’re a food or cooking enthusiast, you will have opportunities to interact with the experts from cooking to eating with them. If you’re into cocktails, then perhaps it’s an opportunity to describe a few of your favourite flavours and have a customized cocktail created by a master mixologist.”
Something that is really changing the way we use and interact with our homes is smart technology, which will also play a prominent role at HomeFest.
“Technology can save time and gives consumers an incredible living experience,” says Holmes. “With the various products and services in the market, HomeFest will bring together a variety of companies to show consumers how to use technology to manage their homes better and improve their lifestyle. HomeFest will feature innovative products that can easily be adapted into homes to create smart homes that make our lives that much easier and organized.”
“Primarily, we want to be looking at how smart home technology can help make our spaces more efficient, and help tailor them to the way we live in our homes,” she adds. “There are simple examples of how we are integrating technology into the event’s interactive experiences. Smart home kitchen appliances and kitchen devices with cool connected accessories will be incorporated into the spaces to elevate the consumer experience.”
The smart tech won’t only focus on the kitchen. There will be different products and vendors that will show you brand new ways of taking control of your home and making it a more functional, inviting, comfortable, and efficient place to live.
HomeFest will run from November 2 to 4, 2018, at the International Centre in Mississauga. Stay tuned, there is a lot more information about HomeFest to be released over the next year.
We can’t wait!
