The Bartholomew: Regent Park’s Latest Condo Development
By Lucas on Dec 19, 2014
Exciting news - The Daniels Corporation has announced the next condo and townhome development of their Regent Park master-plan in Toronto! The new residence is called The Bartholomew and will presumably be located near Dundas Street East and Regent Street, near St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church/Children’s Centre.
The Bartholomew will feature a wide selection of condo suites and traditional townhomes, following the model of the successful One Park Place towers just down the street. The Quadrangle Architects designed condo will stand 13 storeys, and the condo suites will start in the low $200,000s, while the townhomes will start in the mid $500,000s. With a low starting price, The Bartholomew is a great option for first-time homebuyers, and with many townhomes, there will surely be larger condo suites to accommodate small and medium families.
Last October, we actually had the chance to tour One Park Place South, and if the Bartholomew is anything like that condo, then this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss. One Park Place also has incredible amenity spaces, and we expect Daniels to deliver the same quality at the latest addition to Regent Park. As of a couple months ago, One Park Place South was 75% sold, so we wouldn't be surprised if there were only a few units remaining. If we remember correctly, occupancy is taking place right now!

The best thing about The Bartholomew, aside from the low starting price and quality appointments, is the location in Regent Park. If you’re a steady follower of our blog, you know that we’ve been watching Daniels’ revitalization of Regent Park for a long time now. We toured the first One Park Place tower when it topped off, we were there for “The Journey,” a musical by Daniels President Mitchell Cohen about the history of Regent Park. We saw the unveiling of the new athletic field, and even attended the announcement a few months ago where TD donated $250,000 to the Toronto Centre for Community Learning & Development. The Regent Park master-plan isn’t just about building new condos, it’s about reviving a vibrant community.
Located near Dundas and Regent Street, The Bartholomew is right across from the aquatic centre, and the new athletic grounds with a soccer field that converts to a cricket pitch, an ice rink, and a basketball court is next to One Park Place - easily within walking distance. For anything that’s not within walking distance, the Dundas streetcar is just steps away. East to west travel really is a breeze with the King and Queen streetcar lines also directly to the south, and all of the streetcars hit the Yonge subway line, so north and south travel is a cinch, too.
As Daniels continues to develop new high quality housing and contribute in other ways to the rebirth of the neighbourhood, we predict that more and more families will end up calling Regent Park home in the near future. While there are many shops, restaurants and community venues in Regent Park, it’s also nice to be so close to some of Toronto’s historic areas, like the Distillery District and St. Lawrence Market. The Distillery District is less than a 20 minute walk away and only 15 minutes by transit. The St. Lawrence Market, the world’s number one farmer’s market (according to National Geographic), is only a few more minutes away.
