The 20 Design Excellence finalists for the 2017 OAA Awards
By Lucas on Mar 08, 2017
The Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) recently announced the 20 finalists for the prestigious Design Excellence Award, which recognizes the best of the best in architectural designs.
“The OAA Awards showcases the exceptional work that Ontario architects are doing in the province, Canada and around the world,” says John Stephenson, OAA president. “Each year I’m blown away at the creativity and forward-thinking architects bring to their projects.”
The 20 finalists were selected from more than 140 submissions, including recreational facilities, educational buildings, community centres, and residential projects. The submissions were judged based on the project’s creativity, context, sustainability, good design, good business, and legacy.
On April 3rd, the Design Excellence winners, as well as other awards for Concepts, Landmark Designation, Best Emerging Practice, the G. Randy Roberts Service Award, and the Order of da Vinci will be announced.
The Celebration of Excellence Awards will be held on May 26th at the Westin Hotel in Ottawa. The Celebration will cap off the 2017 RAIC/OAA Festival of Architecture. Additional awards will be announced at this time, including the Lieutenant Governor’s Award, Michael V & Wanda Plachta Award, and the People’s Choice Award.
