On August 18, 2013, the Canadian Society of Corporate Secretaries (CSCS) opened their 15th annual corporate governance conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia with the presentation of the first ever Excellence in Governance Awards. And, Tarion Warranty Corporation was a proud recipient of one of these prestigious awards.

Excellence in Governance Awards

There were a total of 76 candidates and only eight awards. The CSCS selected a panel of jurors to narrow down the list to a few finalists and then to select winners. The jury consisted of governance experts from across Canada.

Tarion received the award for Best Approach to Board and Committee Support due, in part, to their excellent Board and CEO evaluations and director education program.

About the Canadian Society of Corporate Secretaries

According to the CSCS website, they are “recognized as the most important professional organization for good corporate governance in Canada.” The CSCS’s primary objective is to provide information and networking for corporate secretaries by providing a “proven toolbox” for corporate governance best practices.

To receive an Excellence in Governance Award is amazing for Tarion, and we must say, well deserved. We would like to congratulate Tarion for this milestone achievement.
