Take a Ride for MacKids benefiting Caring for Little Kidneys!

The second annual Take a Ride for MacKids event, hosted by Reid’s Heritage Homes, is just around the corner! This fundraising event is in support of McMaster Children’s Hospital and the Caring for Little Kidneys Campaign.  

Last year, nearly 1,000 people attended the Take a Ride for MacKids event, and they raised $64,000 for Caring for Little Kidneys. This campaign is how Tim and Charlotte Blevins are giving back to McMaster Children’s Hospital after their daughter, Kayla’s, life was saved by dialysis.

Caring for Little Kidneys aims to raise enough money to help fund the construction of a new pediatric nephrology clinic for the community. At the moment, there is not enough space or equipment to accommodate all the children in need of expert treatment since the current clinic serves all of south-central and parts of southwestern Ontario. The redeveloped clinic will be state-of-the-art, accommodating children and their families, creating the most comfortable experience possible.  

This year’s Take a Ride for MacKids will be held on Saturday, June 17 from 10 am to 3 pm at 6783 Wellington Road 34, Cambridge. There will be a wide variety of activities, attractions, and construction equipment for the family to enjoy!

You and your children will enjoy a hands-on experience with the heavy equipment including a quad tractor, cement truck, boom lift, a crane, loaders, excavators, a combine, a skid steer, a bulldozer, a transport truck, and even an airplane! If your kids have toys like this at home, they will really enjoy seeing the real thing in person.   

The attractions also include helicopter rides (extra cost), pony rides, magic shows, reptile shows, balloon animals, the OPP Roll Over machine, ice cream trucks, carnival rides, face painting, and bouncy inflatables. The magic shows are at 10:30 am, noon, and 2 pm. The reptile shows are at 11:30 am and 1 pm.

The tickets for Take a Ride for MacKids cost $20 each. You can buy them online via Snapd Cambridge, at the Reid’s Heritage homes head office, or at the door on the day of the event. Admission gives you access to everything except for the helicopter rides and food trucks, which cost extra. Kids under 5 get in for free!
