Near the beginning of winter, Summerhill Homes announced that they would be partnering with Skate to Great to collect donations at their West Shore Beach Club sales office in Severn, Ontario (just outside Orillia). Just recently, Summerhill Homes presented two barrels of skates and hockey equipment to Skate to Great! All of the donations of new and gently used equipment will be donated to disadvantaged youth in Orillia. Skate to Great’s mission is to give every child in Canada the opportunity to enjoy the winter season and partake in one of the country’s favourite activities. As of 2011, there are over 600,000 children in Canada living in poverty, and 300,000 of them are in families that rely on food banks. Skates and hockey equipment are expensive, and obviously aren’t a priority for most who struggle to afford food. Since 2012, Skate to Great has distributed around 6,000 pairs of skates. They have a long way to go to reach every Canadian youth in need, but Summerhill Homes helped them get a step closer.“We’re really pleased to have partnered with and supported Skate to Great,” says Sal Ruscica, President of Summerhill Homes. “The organization’s mission to give every child in Canada the opportunity to skate, regardless of their economic or physical circumstances is a cause that we truly believe in at Summerhill Homes.” West Shore Beach Club model homesThe homes of West Shore Beach Club
