Studio and Studio 2 in Toronto are 85% sold!

Can you believe it’s been nearly two years since we’ve visited the Studio and Studio 2 site by Aspen Ridge Homes?! It’s so close to our offices, that it’s strange that we haven’t been in so long, but we finally had the chance to meet up with Armin Osmanovic again, the Project Manager for Aspen Ridge Homes’ high-rise division, to get an update on the development.
Things looked a lot different than our previous visit. The first time we checked out Studio back in 2013, construction was up to the fourth floor, and Studio 2 wasn’t even at grade yet. This time, Studio was occupied up to the 28th floor (31 floors total) and the ground floor gym was complete. The concrete at Studio 2 was finished and Osmanovic said that the crane will be coming down in about a month and the windows are installed up to the 29th floor.
Since we checked out both towers, it was a long tour, so let’s start in Studio. The lobby of Studio looks amazing with a design by Mike Niven. Osmanovic mentioned that there is an 8,000 square foot space designated for OCAD University on the ground floor, which will be handed over to the school shortly. The space is part of Aspen Ridge’s public art contribution, and it is up to OCAD to decide how to use it.
One of the highlights of the Studio tour was definitely the two finished units that we got to tour. Unit 201 (Suite ID-UU) is a 760 square foot, one+den unit with two bathrooms and a walk-in closet. The other unit was Unit 218 (Suite ID-T), which features a 687 square foot, one+den layout.
What we really liked about the unit’s finishes were the wide plank laminate flooring and the angled kitchen hardware that mimicked the slants in the buildings window frames (from the minds of Quadrangle Architects).
A few other interior features and finishes at Studio and Studio 2 include granite or Caesarstone countertops, Integrated Irpinia kitchens with European style panelling, 9’ ceilings, ceramic and porcelain tile, and solid core entry doors, which happen to come in a variety of colours predetermined by Mike Niven.
Winter lounge
After touring the model suites, we visited the amenities level on the ninth floor. The amenities include a media lounge, bar, billiards, outdoor terrace with barbecues, a dining and games room, a yoga room, and a winter lounge. The winter lounge has a heated floor and is bordered by saunas and an outdoor terrace with two hot tubs.
Studio penthouse
The second highlight of the tour was visiting the two penthouses atop Studio. Osmanovic said that the penthouses will be released soon. The two penthouses share the top floor of Studio, each of them will have three bedrooms and about 3,000 square feet of living space.
Penthouse view
One of the interesting design choices for the penthouses is that the master ensuite will not be enclosed in the master-bedroom. The deep soaker tub and shower will occupy the centre of the bedroom, with the only enclosed area being the toilet.
Penthouse view
There wasn’t much to see at the moment since they’re both still just concrete shells, but the views were absolutely incredible! Of course, once we got to Studio 2, we went up to the top floor (41 storeys) to take in even greater views! Studio 2 also has two penthouse suites.
Studio 2 will have its own amenities floor and have much of the same facilities as Studio. There is also an outdoor terrace on the 2nd floor between Studio and Studio 2, which will be the only shared space between the two towers. The terrace features green roof areas, as well as a giant chessboard, which will have stainless steel chess pieces for residents’ use. This outdoor terrace is complete, but will not be open until Studio 2 is occupied.
In other construction news, the final touches will be underway along the laneway on the site and on Richmond, improving th streetscape. This work is starting this week!
