Ski, Golf, Spa and Dine: The Horseshoe Lifestyle

When you buy a home, you buy more than bricks and mortar — you buy into a whole package. A neighbourhood, a vibe, amenities, all the things that make up a balanced lifestyle. But not too many homes come with chairlifts and a pro shop.

Horseshoe Resort & Village, home to one of Ontario’s most beloved ski resorts, offers unparalleled options for recreation and relaxation, from the thrills of ziplining or OGO rides to the head-clearing, soul-refuelling simplicity of spending some time basking in a hot tub. And soon, it will offer Copeland House, a condo residence in the heart of it all.

The new Horseshoe Village is a master-planned community just 15 minutes north of Barrie, a bustling city that offers all the conveniences you could want, such as hospitals, shopping, government offices and performing arts. For everything else, there’s your own backyard. Imagine getting up a little early for a quick trip down the slopes before your morning commute!

The region is renowned for its physical beauty, especially this time of year when fall colours light up the valley in red, burnt orange and bright yellow. Just a morning hike through the forest can set you up for the perfect day, but there’s so much more going on. Copeland House residents will enjoy preferred pricing and access to Horseshoe Resort’s recreational activities, as well as the creature comforts of delicious dining and a pampering spa.

Silks, an upscale 75-seat restaurant overlooking Copeland Forest, offers steak, salmon, lamb and pasta among its savoury entrées. The Crazy Horse is a fun, family-friendly spot where even the booths remind you where you are — they’re chairlifts. We started with the Crazy Kettle Chips, fresh fruit plate with applewood smoked cheddar and the chipotle and mango-seasoned calamari on a recent lunch visit, and were impressed by the freshness and imagination that went into each dish, as well as the knowledgeable, smiling service. The Last Yard offers a quaint spot to grab some lighter fare while you’re out on the links at the Highland course. Just think — if you lived here, you’d never have to cook again, let alone grocery-shop!

The Shizen Spa, which is now housed in the inn but will be moving to the ground floor of Copeland House along with other retail opportunities, offers a full complement of services including couples therapies, massage, facials, mud wraps, and Shizen signature treatments for body, hair, nails and more.

And of course, there’s golf and skiing. The Globe and Mail rates the Highlands Course among the top 50 of all public and resort courses in Canada. With incredible views of the valley below, Highlands offers a fully equipped pro shop, 10-acre driving range and golf academy as well.  The Valley

Course offers a great game for golfers at all levels just steps away from the chalet.

When the snow flies, Horseshoe offers lessons on skis or boards including private, semi-private and Mommy and Me. Night skiing, cross country, nordic or alpine, Horseshoe offers it all, as well as a terrain park, racing leagues and ski camps.
