Exciting news for buyers looking for a new home in Cambridge, Ontario - the demolition at the American Standard site in now complete and HIP Developments has commenced construction of The Standard apartments and Riverbank Lofts.
The Standard will stand 10 storeys tall and feature luxury apartment units, as well as a few amenities, including a rooftop terrace, a fully equipped gym, and a residents lounge. Riverbank Lofts is a luxury condo with a total of 42 units, which will launch to eager registrants on October 1st, 2016.
“Riverbank Lofts is a truly unique offering, not just for Cambridge but for Waterloo Region,” says Joel Doherty, director of development at HIP Developments, in a recent post on the HIP Developments website. “This is a once in a lifetime chance to live in a historic building on the river, with waterfall and pond views and the charm of village shops right next door.”
Located in Hespeler Village on the Speed River, The Standard and Riverbank Lofts will offer views of the water, Mill Pond, and Mill Pond Falls. Cambridge has a vibrant history stemming back into the late 1700s and early 1800s, and HIP Developments will be complementing the area’s village atmosphere and heritage architecture with these projects.
“We’re excited to see the vision of this luxury lifestyle living taking shape,” says Scott Higgins, president of HIP Developments. “Hespeler Village is rich in history and we’re so excited to be a part of augmenting the downtown core through this project.”
“Hespeler has such an amazing vibe,” adds Doherty. “A farmers’ market, street festivals, art shows, great food and more. And it’s centrally located to all of Cambridge's amenities and the 401.”
In addition to a wealth of cultural amenities, the area also offers many parks, walking trails, and lush conservation areas. One of the best things about Hespeler’s location is that it is conveniently located between Guelph and Kitchener. If you want to go to Guelph, all you need to do is drive up Hespeler Road (Highway 24), and Kitchener is just a short ride to the west along the 401.
“I’m a long-time Cambridge boy and to invest back into my city in this way means a lot to me,” says Higgins. “This is more than just a build for us, we’re invested in this community.” The site has been vacant since 2007; it was once the main hub of industry for the village. According to HIP Developments, locals and registrants are thankful that the site is finally being put to good use.
