For the first time in a decade, the Royal Connaught opened its doors for a high class gala to celebrate the launching of The Residences of Royal Connaught by Spallacci Group and Valery Homes.

The builders rolled out the gold carpet, that’s right, a gold carpet for the special evening. The party was hosted in the fully restored three-storey art-deco lobby, which features hand-strung crystal chandeliers, restored columns, the original limestone flooring, and a grand mezzanine. With Hamilton’s Scott Whittington on piano and models floating around the party in vintage garb, it could have been a Gatsby affair.

“We’ve worked really hard to restore the grandeur of the Royal Connaught and it is incredibly rewarding to see this kind of response to the project. It’s beyond anything we could have expected,” says Ted Valeri, President of Valery Homes.

Even descendents of Harry Frost, the original owner of the Royal Connaught Hotel, were in attendance, including Harry Frost III, who was probably the most dapper looking four year-old at the party.

“Everyone has a special connection to the Connaught and it is a truly remarkable place. The excitement in the city for this project is contagious, so it was only fitting that we marked its return in such an exceptional way,” says Rudi Spallacci, President of Spallacci Group. “After all, when was the last time the Royal Connaught threw a party?”

100 years ago, Royal Connaught Hotel was the social hub in Hamilton. Celebrities and royalty hosted private soirees, spent the evening, and dined at the hotel. At the launch, Spallacci and Valery revealed a scale model of The Residences of Royal Connaught, which features a seven-storey podium, 700 units, and the new retail that will wrap from King Street along Catharine to Main.
