Toronto is starting to see some real high end projects planned for the downtown core. Projects like 1 Yonge and Mirvish+Gehry are starting to work their way through the development cycle. We are pretty excited to see developers starting to push the limits on architectural design, forcing us to re-examine the way we think about high-rise developments.

The Mirvish+Gehry proposal at the corner of King St. West and John St. calls for three towers, reaching 86, 84, and 82 storeys. This project has the potential to be Toronto's new landmark development.

We gave you a glimpse of the initial renderings last October, and of course, changes have been made. Late last week, the team at Projectcore released new renderings of Mirvish+Gehry. Check them out! What do you think?

Changes at the ground floor of Mirvish+Gehry

As you can see from the images, the biggest change is at the ground level. The podium, which looks more like a cloud at this point, will also feature large wooden beams. The wooden beams will support the cloud-like glass, and also pay tribute to the heritage buildings around the site.

Mirvish+Gehry still developing

By no means is this the final look at Mirvish+Gehry. High profile projects like this will go through a number of changes before a final is approved - especially when working with these heights. We have to say, we like where things are headed, and we can not wait until Mirvish-Gehry takes the next step in the development process.
