In the mid-1800s, Thornhill was inhabited by Patterson Village, a small community built to support the employees of Patterson & Bro., the province’s most successful manufacturers of agricultural implements. Today, the Upper West Side community is building on Ontario’s heritage literally and figuratively - creating a new chapter for the former pioneer village while continuing the region’s legacy of community and prosperity.

The Upper West Side master-plan is the product of a collaboration between five of the GTA’s most respected builders - Aspen Ridge Homes, The Conservatory Group, CountryWide Homes, Regal Crest Homes, and Townwood Homes. After the wild success of Phase 1, the team is pleased to announce that they are now collecting registrations for Phase 2 of the luxury community. The joint project combines a fusion of heritage aspects and contemporary design, and thoughtful green spaces to produce a streetscape reminiscent of Toronto’s Forest Hill and Rosedale situated in the midst of Vaughan’s blossoming beauty.

Traditional architecture meets contemporary design at UWS

Rather than leveling the land, the builders of Upper West Side have maintained the natural topography of the plot. The controlled streetscapes feature gently winding streets and private crescents and cul-de-sacs, creating a sense of natural beauty and a coherent aesthetic. Residents enter the Upper West Side community through a landscaped stone entry-gate leading to a central grand avenue. At the heart of the neighbourhood lies a large park featuring expansive green lawns, sports courts, and a central pond. This central community space is ideal for quiet morning runs, picnicking with the family, or walking the dog. The neighbourhood is also interspersed with a number of parks and ravines.

This collaborative project brings together five unique and complementary visions, creating a sense of diversity within the community. The development’s uniting architectural style is inspired by some of Toronto’s classic and timeless neighbourhoods, combining brick, stone, and stucco exteriors with impressive porticoes, second floor balconies, and copper detailing.
