Register for the eVolo 2015 Skyscraper Competition!

The time has come, eVolo is now accepting registrations for the 2014 Skyscraper Competition!
Established in 2006, the eVolo Skyscraper Competition has become one of the world’s most prestigious high-rise design competitions. One of the reasons the competition is so highly regarded is because it challenges architects, students, engineers, designers, and artists to redefine tall building design.
Participants are urged to stretch the boundaries of design. explore new technologies, materials, aesthetics, and also aim to solve economical, social, and cultural issues that the contemporary city faces. Some of these issues include diminishing natural resources, pollution, rapid population growth, and urban sprawl.
Just check out last year’s winners. The first place winner, “Vernacular Versatility” was a building that allowed for residents to manipulate the curved edge of the tiled roof to control the amount of sunlight the living spaces were exposed to. One of the other winners was called “Propagate Skyscraper: Carbon Dioxide Structure;” it was a tower that grew as it fed off air pollution!

Previous years also saw floating towers and iceberg towers, so we’re pretty excited to see what the participants come up with this time around! We would like to see a Toronto designer, artist, student, engineer, or architect take one of the top three spots!
You must register by January 13, 2015, and the submissions deadline is January 27, 2015. This is a digital competition, so you don’t need to have any physical copies of your designs!
Here are the prizes:
- 1st place – US $5,000 + virtual visualization by real5D + press kit distribution by v2com
- 2nd place – US $2,000
- 3rd place – US $1,000
