If you need more space for an office or studio, or even if you’re thinking of adding an addition to your home or cottage, maybe you should consider taking the space outdoors. Industrial design firm 608 Design and BLDG Workshop collaborated to design “The Bunkie” with this specific fully functioning, multi-use concept in mind.
A great DIY project for the skilled handyman, The Bunkie is expertly designed to be assembled by its new owner. Manufactured in “IKEA-style” pre-assembly pieces, one of the benefits of the project is how quickly these plywood pieces come together. Remarkably, there are just 15 major structural components that are flat-packed and shipped directly to your home, only requiring nuts and bolts for assembly. The 12’6” x 11’6” Bunkie is insulated to withstand seasonal weather changes.
Described as a “transformative space”, this innovative design marks a long anticipated metamorphosis in shed, cabin and shack engineering.
Ever thought about creating an outdoor oasis for your office space? This is your chance. The 106 square foot room is “designed to fit seamlessly with nature,” with extravagant custom finishes… Some models even feature electrical fireplaces!
Another benefit is that it was designed specifically to adhere to legal limitations for building permits; just under the 107 square foot maximum, there is no need to file an application.
Already gaining praise and attention in Designlines Magazine, it’s only a matter of time before we start seeing these personalized spaces pop up in the city.
What would you do with your Bunkie?
