Pemberton Group has unveiled the Urban Townhome Collection, as well as a beautifully designed, furnished model, featuring artwork by Canadian author, visual artist, and cultural iconoclast Douglas Coupland.
President of Pemberton Group, Marc A. Muzzo; Managing Director of the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), Ann Webb; General Manager of the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art (MOCCA), Julia Dow; and Principal-Creative of UNION31, Neil Jonsohn were in attendance to celebrate the launch of the Urban Townhome Collection and Pemberton’s partnership with ROM and MOCCA.
Marc A. Muzzo, President, Pemberton Group
“The unveiling of the Urban Townhome Collection marks another milestone in Pemberton Group’s history of building superb communities in many of the GTA’s most desirable neighbourhoods. U Condos is a testament to our company’s longstanding commitment to outstanding design in its many forms,” said Muzzo. “For the townhomes, UNION31 has been integral to the design of the 19 unique layouts, as well as developing custom kitchens and baths, and selecting the features and finishes that set these homes apart. When we became aware of the plans for a solo Douglas Coupland exhibition at the Royal Ontario Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art, we instantly felt it would resonate with our clientele. We know that there are people who have a keen appreciation for the finer things in life, including world-class cultural venues, shopping, and dining that will be just steps from their own door front. As such, our new partnership with ROM and MOCCA is only natural.”

The solo Douglas Coupland exhibition will showcase more than 100 pieces split between the two venues. The pieces accenting the model townhome will not be part of the exhibition, but are evocative of the style of work that will be presented. The exhibition, titled Douglas Coupland: everywhere is anywhere is anything is everything, will be opening January 31, 2015.
Ann Webb, Managing Director, ROM
“Pemberton’s support is essential to us being able to present this exhibition both at the ROM and MOCCA. It is a major exhibition in our roster and featuring a renowned artist such as Douglas Coupland is something we are all very excited about,” Webb announced.

Some of the notable interior features and finishes, aside from Coupland’s art, includes 10’ main floor ceilings, pre-finished wood flooring, and an incredible Irpinia Kitchen with custom designed cabinetry, granite countertops, and Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances. The luxurious bathroom boasts a freestanding soaker tub, frameless glass shower, custom designed vanity, and porcelain tile.
Neil Jonsohn, Principal-Creative, UNION31
“When you think about design, it’s a lot like telling a story – it’s a narrative. You have a setting, you have characters that bring it to life, and you always have a common thread that runs through it. Our story here is a modern one, it’s sexy, and it’s got a bit of wit. The scenery is very clean - black and white - and very contemporary,” Jonsohn commented.
