Brand new suite owners Bryan Davies and Andra Takacs have started enjoying life at Festival Tower, which involves living atop TIFF Bell Lightbox, the new permanent home of the Toronto International Film Festival.
The couple appreciates how special it is to be intimately involved with this centre for film that has attracted international attention to Toronto as a cultural hub for the arts. “We wanted to be close to TIFF Bell Lightbox,” says Andra. “We chose Festival Tower because of the fantastic architecture and the fact that we would literally live in the same building.”
“This downtown location will be a new experience for us,” Bryan says. “We have lived out on The Kingsway for the past 20 years. Andra is retired, and I work as a regulator in the financial services sector. My offices are at King and Bay, so now I can walk to work. It sure beats a 20 to 30 minute commute from The Kingsway area!”
With this spectacular building designed by Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg (KPMB) in collaboration with Kirkor Architects,
The Daniels Corporation has led the redevelopment of Toronto’s Entertainment District. According to Andra, the fact that she and Bryan had heard of Daniels’ excellent reputation and that the renowned architect Bruce Kuwabara had a hand in designing Festival Tower had a lot to do with their purchase decision. “We were so impressed with the building, and we were very intrigued with the ability to access the TIFF Bell Lightbox programming on a daily basis through the interconnectivity package. I’m a huge movie fan!”
“We’re regular patrons of TIFF Bell Lightbox,” Bryan adds. “We go to films, screenings and exhibits like the Tim Burton and Mary Pickford displays. We dine regularly at Canteen and Luma restaurants, so having them right in our building will be amazingly convenient.”
Now that they’ve moved in, Andra and Bryan also look forward to enjoying the amenities in Festival Tower. “We intend to make regular use of the fitness area and pool facilities,” Bryan says. “We also want to rent the Festival Cinema and party area for get-togethers.”
They purchased the 2,000 sq. ft. (CONFIRM) Hoffman suite for its southwest views and efficient layout. “It’s exciting to be part of this neighbourhood,” Andra says. “This is perfect for film-lovers.”
