Morris Kansun talks 68 Main St.

Recently Morris and his team at Sierra Building Group invited NewInHomes.com to learn more about this project..
Morris Kansun: "What is new about it is its right in Main st. Markham, right in the heritage district of Markham, which has never happened before. There are a lot of condos along highway seven, but this is a different ballgame.”
Morris Kansun: "This is ideal for people who want to live in Markham, but they want that Urban Life. Here you are able to live a small town life, you come downstairs from your condo and you walk outside, you walk to restaurants, you do your grocery shopping by walking, you walk to the bank, that’s the beauty of it. Its nice to not have to get into your car every time you need something"
Morris Kansun "There is a beautiful roof top garden, great water features. On a beautiful summer evening you can cook up some steaks and enjoy the summer. There will also be a media room and lounge where you can read a book or book it for a party. We will have a concierge at the front door. He will do all the things that a concierge does, but it is such an intimate building that it will have more of a personal interaction and feel."
Morris Kansun "The biggest challenge is respecting the heritage of Main St. Markham. A 30 storey glass and steel structure would not fit in here. We worked with the town and Markham Heritage Committee for over 2 years, there is, and has been, a lot of thought put into this building. We really tried to emulate that old town main street look."
Morris Kansun: "The main street will have a commercial aspect to it. We won’t be selling that, we will be controlling it, ensuring that we attract the right type of clients. The plan is we will have a nice upscale restaurant; a bakery, a coffee shop and other commercial options. The plan is that you will be able to wake up in the morning and meet up with your friends and have a coffee."
Morris Kansun: "The Main St. facade is made to look like seven to eight buildings. There will be indentations, and it will have some texture to it. It is meant to blend into the rest of main St. The building is also three storey on Main Street and steps back to four and six storey’s. That was done for a reason. If you’re at street level at 68 Main St, you will only see the 3 storey commercial aspects. It does not overwhelm. It blends into Main St., and puts a focus on respecting the area."
Morris Kansun : "We have been in business for about 25 years. We have buildt subdivisions all over the GTA. We would be called a medium sized builder. We do a good share of business, but we are small enough that we can pay attention to the details. We are not a cookie cutter factory, we pay attention to what we build."
Morris Kansun: "We have a new Town Home site in Ajax coming in sixty days. It will be very similar to what we have built in the past in our various projects. It will be focused on the first time buyer market, very affordable and still very nice homes. We are very excited about the potential of this project, and are planning on launching it very soon.”
