Monarch Unveils “Mariner” at Heron’s Hill in North York

Monarch recently unveiled a new art piece at their Heron’s Hill community at Sheppard Avenue East and Yorkland Road in North York.
The sculpture, titled Mariner, is located in the courtyard between two high-rises, and is visible to both residents of Heron’s Hill, as well as passersby. Jed Lind, a Los Angeles-based, Canadian born artist, says the inspiration behind the interesting design is Buckminster Fuller’s geodesic dome, which is a shell structure comprised of intersecting circles that form a triangular network that forms a sphere. Mariner stands 16 feet tall and weighs about 16,000 pounds, so it really stands out.

“The structure symbolizes a vessel that contains our emotions ranging from hope and despair, but ultimately to possibilities,” Lind explains in a recent press release. “It was a pleasure to work on a project that transformed a courtyard into a dynamic space.”
With a sculpture of this size, Monarch has really taken the public art game to a whole new level. “We are delighted to live in a city that values art as an essential part of new city developments,” said David George, President of Monarch.
Monarch’s current communities
It’s an exciting time for Monarch. Not only do they have a number of communities in the works in the preconstruction and construction phases, they also just received two Ontario Home Builders’ Association (OHBA) Awards of Distinction:

As for new communities, Monarch recently launched Southfields Singles, a new collection of singles in their Caledon community, Strawberry Fields. The three- and four-bedroom homes range from 1,603 to 1,954 square feet, and there are five beautiful model homes to tour. To learn more about the Southfields Singles, visit the sales centre at 12515 Old Kennedy Road in Caledon or call 905-843-0707.
Earlier this year, Monarch celebrated the grand opening of Riva Del Lago in the Etobicoke Humber Bay waterfront area. There are just 149 units total at this boutique waterfront condo, so you should visit the sales centre at 2167 Lake Shore Boulevard West to see which units are still available.

A development that you should really look into, especially if you’re in search of a new Scarborough home, is Bennett, a wooded enclave of just 19 detached homes. This brand new community is now open and of course, Monarch’s reputation for high quality construction and unique designs will attract a lot of attention in this West Hill neighbourhood. Visit the sales centre today at 1325 Danforth Road or call 416-495-3574 for more information.
Scarborough homebuyers actually have two options when it comes to Monarch communities. Parkwood at Danforth and Eglinton offers three-story townhomes with three- and four-bedroom floorplans and an impressive selection of interior features and finishes. Parkwood’s sales centre is also open, and is located at the same location as the Bennett.
If you live in the Heron’s Hill neighbourhood, we assume you’ve already spotted the Mariner sculpture. If not, head over to Sheppard Avenue East and Yorkland Road today to check it out!
