The Molinaro Group has Big Plans in Burlington
By Lucas on Apr 10, 2013
A potential 1,000-unit, five-tower condominium project could be on its way to Burlington - right next to the GO station. The Molinaro Group is looking to redevelop 2089 & 2095 Fairview St. West into Burlington’s best “mobility hub.” The term “mobility hub” is one used by Metrolinx, who continues to push for more intensification and density around our main transit areas. Building in these areas is exactly what you should expect from future developments.
The Molinaro Group and Burlington
So what does The Molinaro Group have in store for us at 2089 Fairview St.? Not much is known yet, except that they are proposing five towers, all upwards of 20 storeys, as well as a plaza and other retail components. Located next to Walmart and other retail options, and of course, the Burlington GO Station, the master plan will probably get a lot of attention if approved.
The history of 2083 Fairview St.
Back in 2007, the original landowners Buzza Realty Inc. and Chaparral Developments Ltd. took the City of Burlington to the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) in order to ensure that they could in fact bring heavy density to the site. They won, but never acted on it. In September of 2012, The Molinaro Group purchased the site, with much more density in mind. It’s a rare situation where a developer has approval to build before re-submitting plans to the City, but The Molinaro Group has made it clear that they are interested in hearing from locals, and are already working with them in order to build the best development possible.Burlington continues to rise
Anyone who has paid any sort of attention to the new home industry over the past year has noticed the spur of high-rise projects outside of Toronto’s downtown core. Once a predominantly low-rise area, the 905 now has condominium towers appearing in cities like Whitby, Oakville, Markham, and of course, Mississauga.
In Burlington, great developers like Davies Smith Developments and Adi Developments have leaped at the opportunity to build upon available land. With great projects going up, the thirst for condo living is just getting stronger and stronger.
As for The Molinaro Group’s plans, nothing has been finalized, but word is, they’re hoping to get shovels in the ground sometime in 2013. Stay tuned, we’ll be keeping a close eye on this very exciting master plan!
