Mitchell Cohen Awarded a Diamond Jubilee Medal

 Mitchell Cohen, President of The Daniels Corporation has been awarded a Diamond Jubilee Medal at a recent ceremony hosted by the Hon. Bob Rae at the new Daniels Spectrum in Toronto’s Regent Park.

“It’s an honour to be among the Diamond Jubilee Medal recipients,” Mr. Cohen said. “Particularly now, in the midst of the revitalization of Regent Park, community-building and being part of the greater fabric of Canada are so important to me. I consider myself very fortunate to be so rewarded for work that I love to do.”

MPP Glen Murray, Minister of Transportation and Minister of Infrastructure, presented Mr. Cohen with his medal.

“Mitchell Cohen is an important contributor to Toronto, and a true community leader,” Minister Murray said. “He is a visionary who has changed the face of affordable housing in the GTA. Under his leadership, The Daniels Corporation offers generous support for causes like Second Harvest, Habitat for Humanity and various initiatives including the revitalization of Regent Park. He cares deeply about the people of Toronto, and it is an honour to celebrate his contributions with this medal.”

The new commemorative medal was created to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s ascension to the throne, and personally approved by Her Majesty. It was unveiled in February 2011 by Governor General David Johnston and Prime Minister Stephen Harper. As part of the Diamond Jubilee Year celebrations, the medal will be awarded to 60,000 Canadians who have made significant contributions to their communities and country, or whose achievements abroad have brought credit to Canada.
