Mission Hill on Bayview: Groundbreaking!

On Oct. 2, St. Regis Homes broke ground at their luxurious Richmond Hill community, Mission Hill on Bayview. Richmond Hill Mayor Dave Barrow and other members of council were in attendance to celebrate Mission Hill’s milestone.

And boy, did they celebrate. Usually, a groundbreaking consists of mingling, speeches, some sort of photo op with shovels in the ground, and then drinks and food are served. The folks at Mission Hill took it to a whole other level with their celebration, opening with speeches from the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, the sales team, and councillors. Then they moved onto a ribbon cutting, giant gold scissors and all. Then, some dirt was thrown with custom gold shovels, followed by a toast with champagne.

The final act of celebration was our favourite because we had never seen it before. They christened the excavator with a bottle of champagne! It was very fun and made for a great finale to the groundbreaking celebration.

Since construction is underway, the Mission Hill sales office will be moving to the Thornhill Square Shopping Centre at John Street and Bayview Avenue, Unit #500. The sales office is open Monday to Thursday between 1pm and 7pm, on weekends between noon and 5pm, and by appointment on Fridays.
