Minto Queen’s Landing in East Gwillimbury Sold Out in 3 Hours!
By Lucas on Feb 10, 2015
On the the first weekend of February, Minto launched their highly anticipated Minto Queen’s Landing community in East Gwillimbury. With the incredible turnout, “highly anticipated” may be an understatement.
Prior to the opening event, over 7,000 people registered for Minto Queen’s Landing, and on the day of, over 1,300 prospective purchasers attended. Honestly, we think this one might be one for the record books because we’ve never been to an opening with that many people. Apparently, the super eager potential homebuyers camped out in their cars for two nights to secure their spot in line. Minto ended up providing a giant heated tent to keep the outdoor line-up warm.

The number of people who braved the weekend’s low temperatures, high winds, and falling snow just to be the first to get a glimpse of Minto Queen’s Landing is a testament to the value being offered and the strong demand for single detached homes and townhomes in East Gwillimbury. For the first phase of Minto Queen’s Landing, Minto released 90 units...they all sold in three hours. You read that right. That’s a sale every two minutes.
“The launch of Queen’s Landing exceeded all expectations and surpassed every Minto record,” says Amanda Wilson Watkins, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Minto Communities. “We’re hearing from families that this is exactly the type of community they’ve been waiting for: affordable family homes in a location that prioritizes access to every urban amenity, nestled within the region’s beautiful landscape.”
Who knew that East Gwillimbury was a hot location! Well, the average person may not have known, but those living in and around the town, as well as builders and developers have anticipated growth since 2010. Five years ago, the Official Plan for East Gwillimbury was passed, and was also praised for the amount of community engagement that was conducted in order to finalize the plan. The town is designated as a future growth area under the Places to Grow Act, and will support nearly 90,000 new residents over the next 15 years. That’s quite a lot of development considering the population is currently under 25,000.

Much of East Gwillimbury is tied up in the Greenbelt, so most of the development is planned for areas like Queensville. When the housing market is successful in a certain area, it’s not uncommon to see businesses thrive and new ones open. Minto is getting an early start in East Gwillimbury, and the 90 purchasers of the first phase obviously recognize the potential that the town has.
What we really like about the Queen’s Landing opening is that Minto had prices starting in the low $300,000s. This is a very reasonable starting price when it comes to singles and spacious townhomes. The low price point was basically an invitation to couples looking to start a family and first-time homebuyers to come out and be a part of something big in a town that has a bright future.
Register for Phase 2 of Minto Queen’s Landing!
Minto will be releasing Phase 2 of Queen’s Landing later this year. This time, not only will there be new prospective homebuyers interested in the community but also all the people who missed out during the first opening! There are people who didn’t even get in the door who will definitely make sure they’re at the front of the line for the next phase.
