Millennials are flocking to KiWi Condos in Hamilton

In search of affordable new home options, many millennials are leaving the Greater Toronto Area and flocking to areas like Hamilton, according to Rosehaven Homes’ sales activity at KiWi Condos.
In Urbanation’s second quarter condo results for the GTA, the 905 area accounted for 58% of GTA condos sales. The average price per square foot for a condo in the GTA was $1,291, while the average in the 905 was $740 psf. That’s significantly more affordable and is enough to convince many young buyers to move to a different city.
“Almost 50 per cent of our buyers are GTA-based millennials who are simply priced out of Toronto,” says Marco Guglietti, Rosehaven Homes President. “They are dynamic and social young professionals who want to maintain the vibrant urban lifestyle they are accustomed to, and KiWi’s central location not only places them in the core of downtown Hamilton’s iconic arts district, but is accessible to transit which allows them to live outside of Toronto and easily commute to work every day.”
It’s not surprising to hear that nearly half of the buyers at KiWi Condos are GTA-based millennials priced out Toronto’s market because KiWi’s per square foot price averages out to just over $600, so there’s great value and millennials still get the urban atmosphere they desire.
Located at King William St. and Ferguson Ave. North, KiWi Condos is just a few blocks from James St., which is famous for its Art Crawl, which occurs every second Friday of the month. The neighbourhood is known as a gathering place for artists, musicians, entertainers, and buskers. Galleries, bakeries, shops, and cafes line the streets. The Walk Score for KiWi Condos’ neighbourhood is 97, the Bike Score is 72, and the Transit Score is 86.
Kiwi Condos will rise 14 storeys and feature 266 units with one- to two-bedroom+den floor plans, ranging from approximately 540 to 960 square feet.
