Menkes Holds Informative Event About ENERGY STAR
By Lucas on Jun 22, 2015
Building performance has been a hot topic in the GTA’s new home industry, and one of the issues is that many homeowners don’t understand all the “green” features that are being included in their homes. That’s why Menkes held an event in Georgetown to educate homeowners about the ENERGY STAR homes they are building at The Enclaves of Upper Canada.
“We’re really proud to be building ENERGY STAR® homes,” says Steven Menkes, President of the Low-Rise Residential division at Menkes. “The ENERGY STAR® label guarantees that when our homeowners make what may be the biggest purchases of their lives, they are not only buying homes that are both well-built and will save them money, but also decreasing their impact on the environment.”
Some of the features that qualify these homes for the ENERGY STAR label include R50 attic insulation. R31 sprayed in foam for garage ceilings, high efficiency HRV, sealed ductwork joints, drain water heat recovery systems, and excel structural insulated sheathing. If you’re the average homeowner, you probably don’t know what any this means, which is exactly why Menkes held the event! Homebuyers want and feel the need to purchase environmentally-friendly built homes, so it’s important that they know how it all functions. It’s just like if you were to buy an electric car, you’d probably ask how it works.
At the event, representatives from Menkes answered questions and explained the different features included in the homes at The Enclaves. “We were very pleased to have had the opportunity to learn more about our new home and these features,” says one the homeowners. “It’s one thing to see them written on paper but it’s another thing to actually learn what they do and have the benefits explained in detail.”
The homes of The Enclaves of Upper Canada
Like all Menkes’ communities, the streetscapes are carefully planned with a variety of colour palettes and a wide use of different exterior materials, including stone, brick, and stucco. The symmetrical windows are Georgian-inspired, while the bell curve roof flares are reminiscent of historic French architecture.
Menkes just released a new collection of 40’ detached homes, which feature 9’ ceilings, gourmet kitchens with extended-height cabinetry and granite countertops, oak stairs, tray ceilings in the master bedroom, as well as gas fireplaces with white mantels and marble surrounds. The 40’ homes range from 2,496 to 3,525 square feet and start from $749,990.
There is also a collect of semi-link homes available, ranging from 1,590 to 1,878 square feet, and they start from the upper $400,000s. There is currently an opening bonus being offered on the semi-links, giving purchasers three free stainless steel appliances, a white washer and dryer package, and $5,000 in decor upgrades. The 40’ collection also has a special incentive, offering engineered hardwood flooring on the main floors and upper hallways, plus $10,000 in decor upgrades.
