Mattamy and Biddington celebrate construction at J. Davis House, courtesy DeWalt and Corus Radio

Last week, we attended a pizza lunch next to Mattamy Homes and Biddington’s sold out J. Davis House condo in Toronto up at Yonge and Davisville. Why did we brave the heat? It wasn’t for the pizza!
Recently, DeWalt teamed up with Corus Radio on the six week Jobsite Hookup promo, which allowed job sites across the Greater Toronto Area to enter a draw via The Edge 102.1 FM and Q107. More than 800 construction workers entered the contest!
Franky I., the site superintendent at J. Davis House entered the contest and ended up winning a pizza lunch for the entire site, as well as $10,000 worth of DeWalt equipment. DeWalt is also providing some wireless tools at the J. Davis House site to show the construction company and team the benefits of wireless tools.
We have to hand it to the team at J. Davis House and every other construction worker out there at the moment. On Friday, it was easily above 30 degrees celsius and it was super humid. Much of the crew was in the middle of a concrete pour that you can’t stop halfway through, so they ended up taking a late lunch.
We were getting overheated just waiting in the parking lot, even under shade – we can’t imagine using heavy equipment, carrying tools around our waist, and constantly moving all day in this heat.
Construction workers across the city are working hard through this heat wave, and we respect and thank them for it! We’re happy the J. Davis House crew had a chance to cool down under the tents and enjoy a refreshing beverage and some pizza. Franky was probably the hero of the day.
Congratulations to everyone at Mattamy, Biddington, and J. Davis House on winning the DeWalt Jobsite Hookup contest! Stay safe and cool, and if it gets too hot, we hope you’re all taking breaks. Know your limits – severe heat can cause an array of symptoms that could result in serious mistakes and injury on a construction site.
