Matchedash Lofts in Orillia is now open!

Last month, Oakleigh launched their exciting boutique condo development, Matchedash Lofts, in Orillia. Investors, end-users, locals, friends and family all attended the presentation centre opening to view the floor plans and tour the model suite.
Matchedash Lofts is an exciting project for a number of reasons. First of all, there has been a lot of investment in Orillia over the last few years, and Matchedash Lofts is the first major mid-rise development for the city’s downtown.
The Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital has an $85 million expansion and redevelopment in the works. Also, a $45 million city campus was just completed for Lakehead University. The campus is also Canada’s first LEED Platinum certified campus. With significant investments in health and education, it’s clear that Orillia is poised for growth.
Locals and others around the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) recognized Matchedash Lofts as an early opportunity to invest in Orillia’s bright future. When we chatted with Managing Partner, Geoffrey Campbell, last September, he said that starting prices would be around $400 per square foot by the time of launch. With value like that, Matchedash Lofts is an opportunity for first-time buyers, downsizers, and move-up buyers.
First-time buyers would be looking at the smaller units at Matchedash Lofts, but even the smaller units aren’t actually that small compared to some high-rise condos in downtown Toronto. The smallest unit at Matchedash Lofts is 632 square feet.
The majority of the floor plans are over 1,000 square feet (up to 1,750 square feet), which is ideal for move-up buyers. For many couples and families, the new low-rise market in the GTA has become too expensive to move-up, so a larger condo unit just outside of the GTA in a walkable community is an ideal option for some.
Even in the resale market, a low-rise home is out of reach for a move-up buyer. The Toronto Real Estate Board (TREB) recently announced that the average selling price of a detached home in the 416 area exceeded $1.3 million in October 2016.
The layouts and prices are attractive to downsizers too for obvious reasons, and the location near Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching allows for a convenient four-season lifestyle, which is desirable for retirees.
Matchedash Lofts is steps from the water and surrounded by parks, 29 km of walking trails, and Mount St. Louis Moonstone and Horseshoe Resort are nearby. Other entertainment options include golf courses and Casino Rama.
Orillia also has a rich history of arts and culture, producing such talents as Gordon Lightfoot, Stephen Leacock, Elizabeth Wyn Wood, and Franklin Carmichael of The Group of Seven. The arts community is strong and there are many museums and annual festivals held in the city’s downtown area. To pay homage to Orillia’s vibrant past, Matchedash Lofts is designed to resemble redeveloped heritage warehouses.
With Highways 11 and 12 easily accessible, it is very easy to get around Simcoe County or access the GTA from Matchedash Lofts. Toronto is only about an hour away by car, so you don’t have that far to go if you have tickets for a Raptors game (or Jays or Leafs).
Visit Matchedash Lofts as soon as possible!
There is a total of 75 units at Matchedash Lofts, and sales have been going well since last month! Preconstruction units are 25% sold and the launch pricing will be ending soon. The sooner you visit the sales centre at 21 Matchedash Street South, the wider your selection of plans will be.
The units are divided into three collections; Live/Work, Loft, and Terrace (which is further divided into Garden, Lakeview, and Sunset suites).
The sales centre is open Thursday and Friday from 4 pm to 8 pm and on weekends from 11 am to 4 pm. You can also call 647-642-4955 for more information.
