#MagicCityTO - New Six-Acre Park in Toronto!
By Penny on Jun 19, 2014
Residents of the Regent Park community, Councillor Pam McDonnell, Toronto Community Housing and the Daniels Corporation will be officially opening Regent Park’s new six-acre park this Saturday, hosting a music and art-filled ceremony called the Magic City.
Extending a welcome to all who are interested in seeing the new park, which features a playground, splash pad, multi-purpose green space, plaza for community events, dog off-leash area, community gardens, greenhouse, bake oven and walkways with stunning landscaping, event coordinators are excited to unveil this new, enhanced Toronto hot spot.
With entertainment directed by choreographer Bill Coleman from Coleman Lemieux and Compagnie, participants will enjoy music from the Toronto Symphony Orchestra with Maestro Bramwell Tovey, the Regent Park School of Music and the Toronto Council Fire Native Cultural Centre, directed by John Oswald. Expect to appreciate the great sounds of local artists, as there will be over 400 performers of all ages from the Regent Park community and surrounding neighbourhoods, with all community performances supported by Artscape and Daniels Spectrum. Also, local food vendors will be offering the best in the city! To stay up-to-date until then, follow #MagicCityTO and let us know if we’ll see you there!
