The Bridgewater site in Burlington
Bridgewater is a 1.68-acre site along Burlington’s stunning waterfront. For over 20 years, Mayrose-Tycon Group has been tinkering with plans for the high profile site. A mixed-use development has been in the pipeline since 1995. By 2006, the City approved a rezoning to allow for a new mixed-use plan. Then just last year, MADY expressed interest in the site, and now things are really starting to get rolling!
MADY Development Corporation selected by Mayrose-Tycon Limited to build long-awaited Burlington waterfront mixed-use development. Charles Mady discusses the details of the mixed-use development
Senior Vice President and CFO of MADY, Greg Puklicz, introduced the CEO, Charles Mady, to say a few words about the development:
“There will be a 22-storey residential condo building, as well as a seven-storey one, and a third building will be an eight-storey, four-star hotel. These three buildings will be integrated into one cohesive development, and they will be built all at the same time. The total number of condominium suites is 170, and the total number of hotel rooms and suites is 152. The complex will include a restaurant and a limited amount of retail space, designed and implemented to serve the needs of both the condominium dwellers and the hotel clientele. The total gross floor area of the development is 340,000 square feet, plus three levels of underground parking. The total dollar value of this development is $200 million.”
Mady continued, describing how the development will impact Burlington’s waterfront: “The three integrated buildings will surround an open central plaza and have direct pedestrian access to the waterfront promenade. We will be reconstructing Elizabeth St. from Lakeshore Rd., right down to the waterfront trail, complete with dramatically landscaped walkways and boulevards, and special accent lighting, all designed to enhance the feeling of arrival for this unique property’s clientele. This development provides a wonderful opportunity for anyone who has dreamed of living on a prime stretch of Burlington waterfront, all in a complex offering high quality, splendidly designed finishes and amenities. We all expect this development to become Burlington’s crown jewel.”

Toronto-based architecture firm Page + Steele / IBI Group is responsible for the sleek, modern-contemporary design that will soon highlight Burlington’s evolving waterfront. And, the world renowned firm, Gluckstein Design, is the team behind the luxurious interiors.
Prices for the condo units at MADY’s new development are expected to range between $500,000 and $3 million. Once complete, approximately 300 new residents should occupy the two condo buildings. This amount of extra people, plus all the tourists that the four-star hotel will attract, will certainly spur a substantial amount of business and services long Burlington's waterfront.
If you have had the pleasure of exploring Burlington’s waterfront, then you know that it is already one of the Greater Toronto Area’s most established waterfront communities, and you also know that it could be so much more.
