Madonna Lists Manhattan Duplex

In past blog posts, we mentioned that Ellen DeGeneres seems to have an addiction to buying homes, renovating, and then selling them – “flipping” them. Well, that’s something that she and Madonna have in common!
Okay, so it’s not as severe with Madonna, but it’s pretty intense. Recently, Madonna listed her Upper West Side duplex for $23.5 million. Madonna has owned this duplex since 1985; of course, it wasn’t quite as extravagant then, or even a duplex for that matter.
When Madonna first purchased the duplex at Harperley Hall in 1985, it was a single apartment. Over the years, she continued adding to it, until eventually, it became what it is today: a 6,000-square-foot duplex occupying three apartments on the fifth and sixth floors.
Madonna’s Harperley Hall duplex features six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, and a whole bunch of luxurious features and finishes. It has 10-foot ceilings, five wood-burning fireplaces, oak floors, and a pretty decent view of Central Park.
Why, after so many years and hard design work, is Madonna selling her Manhattan abode? The word on the street is she’s been spending most of her time in her Georgian townhome, which she purchased back in 2009 for a whopping $32 million. Madonna has even upgraded this 12,000-square-foot townhome by adding a crazy rooftop deck and a state-of-the-art gym. We don’t know any of the other features and finishes, but it’s Madonna’s home — it’s clearly decked out with the works, just like her other one.
So, if you’re looking for a cool new home in the Upper West Side of Manhattan, and have $23.5 million to spare, then you should probably jump on this one right away! You don’t want to miss this amazing opportunity.
