LOVE is in the Air, and JOY is on the Way

We recently had the opportunity to tour LOVE Condos in Scarborough with Yan Wang, President of Gemterra Developments Corporation, Maurice Lerman, General Manager for Gemterra, Barbara Lawlor, President of Baker Real Estate, and Krista Jackson, Project Manager for Baker. A lot of other media and many prospective homebuyers were also on the tour, which showcased all the finished amenity spaces, as well as a stunning furnished model suite.
“For our family and entire team, this development has truly been a labour of love,” Wang announced. “When we envisioned this project, we looked at the neighbourhood and tried to capture what our future residents will be looking for. We wanted a condo- community that feels very much like the neighbourhoods you or I grew up in -- surrounded by family and friends, and conveniences that create living spaces such as parks, supermarkets, restaurants and recreational centres; paired with modern amenities that reflect today's lifestyle.”
The first amenity space we visited was the pool, which was quite a sight. Wang pointed out that the pool is actually separate from building, as if it were outdoors, but is surrounded by glass to make it usable year-round. Also, on top of the pool structure, there is a running track, which wasn’t fully completed yet, so we couldn’t go up there for a peek. Then we visited the fully equipped gym that also featured a separate yoga studio. The lounge area was cozy and had a billiards table, and the lobby was very welcoming.
The highlight of the tour was definitely the new model suite. The 750 square foot, one-bedroom+den suite was designed by Tanner Hill Associates Inc. and boasted an array of standard features and finishes that usually come as upgrades, such as the high quality laminate flooring, granite countertops, and Kohler fixtures.
“The main living area is spacious enough for a table that can seat six, and it’s amazing how much wall space there is,” said Paul Davies of Tanner Hill. “We were able to hang large works of art, which is unusual for a suite of this size. For flexibility, the den can be used as a TV or games room, and we placed a daybed in there to show how it can accommodate an overnight guest. In the bedroom, which has a walk-in closet, we incorporated under-bed storage to allow for ample floor space.”
The suites of LOVE
The 20-storey condo at Kennedy and Sheppard is comprised of 287 units and 21 condo townhomes. During the tour, we had a chance to catch up with Barbara Lawlor, and she mentioned that there are only approximately 25 units remaining at LOVE.

“Spring has begun finally!” exclaimed Lawlor. “The first three months of this year, the results have been very solid in our industry; we’ve outsold the average for the last 10 years. We’re seeing many investor eyes in Toronto – our city is the place to be. Toronto has received so many accolades; our economy is doing great and we’re also extremely lucky with our historically low mortgage rates which are phenomenal at the moment. It’s a great time to own real estate.”

Baker will also be working with Gemterra on JOY Condos, which will rise right next door to LOVE. “We’re really looking forward to JOY opening, especially since we’ve seen the results of LOVE. I think a lot of people will be really excited when they tour LOVE, and it will really encourage them to buy in these two towers.”
