A beautifully natural transition from elegance to comfort

Newbury model Ritz Carlton Residences Toronto

A tour through the 3,284 sq. ft. three-bedroom + library Newbury model suite/presentation centre at The Residences at The Ritz Carlton, Toronto offers a firsthand experience of the contemporary elegance that permeates this entire 5-star hotel-residences combination. Only a few fabulous suites remain at The Residences, where owners have access to exclusive amenities, as well as the incredible spa, restaurant, bars, ballrooms, business centre and other luxurious hotel spaces. The hotel has already become Toronto’s most coveted spot for social and business events, and both hotel guests and suite owners are indulging in the exceptional level of service for which The Ritz Carlton has achieved legendary status.

Designed by Sheila Clark, President of Choices the Agency, the Newbury provides breathtaking panoramic views to the west and south. In fact, on a clear day, you can see all the way to the Golden Horseshoe from the expansive corner windows. According to Clark, this model features the timeless elegance of transitional styling. We designed the suite with a specific purchaser in mind,” she says. “This person has worked hard and achieved a level of success that affords the best. The surroundings are luxurious and high end, yet unpretentious. The owners could entertain here in style and kick back and relax when alone. The spacious rooms have a whisper of the grandeur of The Ritz Carlton Hotel, yet the casual elegance makes it feel like a well appointed home.”

One of the beauties of the transitional style is its balance of masculine and feminine. “As well as being refined, the furnishings are serviceable,” Clark says. “We chose everything with the views in mind. The windows, the lake and the Toronto skyline are the canvas for this work of art. Every day I worked in the suite, it was like an evolving painting – vistas change and morph with the elements. It’s spectacular. The goal was for the furniture and décor to embrace this.”

Dark walnut floors with a subtle grain offer a rich anchor for the items that came from some of the city’s finest furniture shops, including the simple wool and silk area carpet that sets off the living room, where angles cohabit with curves for an inviting feeling. The contemporary dining suite beckons with plush silver gray upholstered seating around a dramatic dark table. Against the neutral wall palette, the effect is stunning.

In the traditional style of Paris, the kitchen floor was chosen with a French basket marble weave limestone. This room is fresh and airy, the crystal light over the breakfast table contrasting the plain shaker cabinets without competing with the views through the massive window wall. “The glass backsplash has the flavor of a water colour,” Clark says. “When you are in this room, nothing interrupts the feeling of calm.”

The master bedroom’s wall colour is a grey-blue to accentuate the fact that this is a home in the sky. “We wanted to make this sizeable room dreamy,” Clark says, “The painting over the bed is an example of the wonderful art that we added throughout the suite. In fact, the entire building contains works of primarily Canadian art which adds to the distinctiveness of the common areas, hotel suites and residences.”

In the model, the master ensuite features granite countertops, which Clark says serves two purposes. “They are timelessly beautiful and elegant; perfectly chosen for the discerning buyer.”  The guest room is slightly more feminine, with a Venetian-style bed flattered by soft edges and the ginger-beige-cream wall colour resembling the amber halo around a red sky at dawn. “Everything chosen here is about bringing the outdoors in,” Clark adds.

The Ritz Carlton, Toronto is situated in the City’s “New Yorkville.” Within walking distance, residents can access both the entertainment and financial districts, the new TIFF Bell Lightbox, superb shopping, trendy and fine-dining restaurants, popular sports venues, the lake and many of the city’s other amenities. Within the building, suite owners can access Toronto’s underground PATH system that links hundreds of shops and restaurants.
