KIPCO Tower Brings Colour and Style to Kuwait City
By Lucas on Jul 17, 2013
It’s been a while since we checked out an interesting high-rise tower located outside of Canada. We recently stumbled upon KIPCO Tower, a completed, mixed-use building in Kuwait City.
The design of KIPCO Tower
Bold, sleek, stylish, and sexy are four words that come to mind when admiring the KIPCO Tower in Kuwait. Designed by SSH International and developed by United Real Estate Company, the tower is the first of its kind in the country to offer office space, luxury apartments, and commercial space all within one building. The building is located in the heart of the city’s financial district and features over 1 million square feet of area, making it a significant presence in the city. KIPCO Tower was completed in 2012, and is considered one of the most innovative and distinguished structures within the region.
All the offices of KIPCO Tower have flexible mechanisms allowing them to customize the layout to improve space and productivity. The luxury apartments come in one-, two-, and three-bedroom floorplans, and they’re available for rent, purchase, or lease to own. Residents and office workers enjoy a spectacular 360 degree view of the city and the Arabian Gulf.
Would KIPCO Tower fit in with Toronto?
We think KIPCO Tower would look great amongst the ever-growing skyline of Toronto. KIPCO Tower’s shape and structure somewhat remind us of Toronto’s L Tower by Cityzen, Fernbrook, and Castlepoint. Although we have yet to see what the night shots of The L Tower will look like, the night shots of KIPCO Tower are outstanding. A building like this would definitely add a bit more colour to Toronto’s skyline, and maybe even complement the CN Tower’s nightly light show.
The colour and style that KIPCO Tower brings to the Kuwait skyline is fantastic, but its positioning in the city makes it stand out almost too much. Individually the building looks great, but amongst the other buildings in Kuwait, it appears out of place. It also seems to distract from other major landmarks in the city, such as the Liberation Tower. It looks like there is a gap between KIPCO Tower and the rest of Kuwait. Perhaps they just need a few more years to bring everything together. What do you think?
