King Blue's The New 'IT' Spot

For most Torontonians, a night on the town means leaving the house. But that certainly won’t be the case for residents at the sophisticated and elegant King Blue Condos – located right in the heart of King West.  In fact, the spectacular range of amenities will have residents inviting friends and family over in droves.

Residents and the public at large are free to roam into the jaw-droppingly gorgeous lobby replete with blazing fireplace with a glass-splintered marble mantel in order to access King Blue’s stunning 5,800 sq. ft. rooftop patio on the 9th floor. Alessandro Munge, Managing Partner of interior design firm Munge Leung, envisioned a unique space – somewhere between a lounge, a private garden and an art gallery – where visitors can stroll, meditate, socialize, or eat dinner. “We really studied the psychology and the sociology of how people move around in spaces and tailored our design to meet a variety of human needs,” says Mr. Munge.

Aside from the panoramic city views, the rooftop patio houses a gigantic 20 foot tall metal trellis that has fresh ivy woven throughout it.  It creates a private and romantic space tucked in the middle of the action, like a living, breathing artwork in which the socializing people are unwitting participants. Inside, designer couches are scattered alongside an elongated fountain of water that support small firepits which pop up every few feet. These small bursts of fire cast an amber light inside the cloistered walkway. “This kind of space really affects the way people talk and what they talk about. There’s an intimacy that is achieved here.” Quite a feat, considering the dramatic expanse of rooftop available.

A pool on the 6th floor echoes the white-rippled marble and granite used throughout the lobby. “We’ve got these amazing pillars around the pool,” says Mr. Munge, “You’ll also be able to see the fantastic city view while you’re swimming.”  Natural light cascades through to the pool as floor to ceiling windows surround the waters.  Glass doors provide easy access to an outdoor patio area outfitted with gardens and a bar – a perfect transition space for residents.  Sip on a cold martini post-swim and enjoy the fabulous view.

Other amenities include a top-of-the-line fitness centre, a multimedia room and fashionable guest suites. There’s also the expansive 13,000 sq. ft. to 35,000 sq. ft. of retail space on the ground floor, part of which will be occupied with the new Theatre Museum Canada, an education and exhibition centre paying tribute to the art of theatre – musical and otherwise.  A revealing glass exterior wall on the second floor of the Museum showcases guests and entices street-level passersby to come visit the collections.

This new condo project by Easton’s Group of Hotels is much more than a new residence – it’s a new social destination for the King West public at large. “We’ve created urban spaces that become warm environments where people can congregate and enjoy themselves,” says Munge.  Suite sizes range from 400 sq. ft. to 1,100 sq. ft. and prices start in the mid $200,000’s.
