Imperial Plaza: A Building That Tells A Story

By on Nov 25, 2010

Once in a lifetime there is a building that brings so much potential and attention that it can capture the thoughts of a city. Imperial Plaza at Yonge and St. Clair is one of those buildings.

Originally built in 1957, the Imperial Oil building is a landmark of Midtown Toronto. Designed by architect Alvan Mathers, the original plan for the building was to be the new Toronto City Hall. However, a quick decision by the mayor led to those plans being scrapped and an opportunity for Imperial Oil. Imperial Oil happily took that opportunity and built this magnificent building at 111 St. Clair Ave. West.

One of the signature features of the “Imperial Plaza at Yonge and St. Clair” is the mural in the main lobby of the building. R. York Wilson was commissioned to produce this famous mural, which has been described as a marvel. The East end of the mural illustrates the origins of Oil, where as the West end of the mural depicts the modern day uses of oil. Combined, they tell “The Story of Oil”.

Suites at the “Imperial Plaza at Yonge and St. Clair” -- from one bedroom to three bedroom plus den units -- will continue the high-end feel of the building with their superb finishes and subtle colour pallet. The Kitchen area will feature laminate plank flooring, designer European cabinetry as well as stone countertops. The highlight of the living areas will be true 10 foot ceilings and  strong panoramic views of the Toronto skyline.

The top floor penthouse-townhome collection will feature some of the best views in Toronto. Ranging from 1,800 to 2,300 Sq. ft., these units will be the talk of the town. With up to 15 foot ceilings, incredible north and south views and a state of the art curtain wall window design, it will be hard not to take notice.
