Classic Blue: How to use Pantone’s Color of the Year in your home decor
By Sam Reiss on Dec 11, 2019
Earlier this month, Pantone announced its Color of the Year for 2020. You can expect 19-4052 Classic Blue to be prominently used in home decor next year!
Even before Pantone announced Classic Blue as the Color of the Year, we had a feeling blue was going to be big in 2020.
According to Pantone’s announcement, Classic Blue instills “calm, confidence, and connection.” As we begin a new decade, Classic Blue provides the “dependable and stable foundation” we need for the “new era.”
“We are living in a time that requires trust and faith. It is this kind of constancy and confidence that is expressed by PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue, a solid and dependable blue hue we can always rely on,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. “Imbued with a deep resonance, Classic Blue provides an anchoring foundation. A boundless blue evocative of the vast and infinite evening sky, Classic Blue encourages us to look beyond the obvious to expand our thinking; challenging us to think more deeply, increase our perspective and open the flow of communication.”
Here are a few ways you can get on trend and get some Classic Blue in your life:
Feature wall
Classic Blue is going to hit home decor in a big way. It’s a colour we’re all used to, so it doesn’t have to gradually work its way into our decor via small trinkets and accessories. On a small scale, blue is barely noticeable, but on a large scale, it is a statement. We think we’ll see a lot of Classic Blue feature walls next year. Painting a single wall is quick, low commitment, and doesn’t cost a lot of money.
Cookware
Like we said, you want to make a statement with Classic Blue. All new cookware may be a larger commitment and bigger investment than painting a wall, but consider the compliments from guests. When was the last time you went to a dinner party and the host was cooking with pots and pans that weren’t stainless steel or some shade of grey?
Bedding
This is another low commitment colour change, and you can spend as much as you like depending on the quality. The bed is always the focus in a bedroom, so Classic Blue bedding is a surefire way to make the Pantone Color of the Year stand out in your home.
There are numerous ways to add pops of colour to your home decor. When you decide to change things up in the new year, keep Classic Blue in mind!
