Home is Where the Heart Is: Purchasing a New Home Together
By Lucas on Feb 02, 2015
How does that Beatles song go? All you need is love, love, love is all you need. On the topic of love, we have to agree with the Beatles, but there are a few things that you can throw into the pot to strengthen that bond. With Valentine’s Day coming up this month, we’re devoting all of February to the couples out there looking to purchase a new home this year.
Purchasing a new home together is another step in what is hopefully a long and happy relationship. But remember, it isn’t always quite as simple as deciding to live together and then finding home sweet home. There are many things to consider, like preferred locations, downsizing possessions, monthly budget, price range, home types, and much more! Who knows, maybe the person you plan on purchasing with has never even lived with a roommate before. Some ground rules will need to be established!
We plan on featuring a wide variety of tips and advice features about how to conquer these challenges (hopefully avoiding a messy breaking up). We’ll also be interviewing a happy couple that’s been living together for three years. We’ll get the inside scoop on the obstacles they faced and how they overcame them. Who knows, we may even interview a not so happy individual about the obstacles that they couldn’t overcome. We also hope to highlight a few new one-bedroom suites and townhomes in the Greater Toronto Area, as well as take a fresh look at the first-time homebuying process from a couple’s perspective.
If you have any good tips or advice to contribute, please contact us on Facebook or Twitter. We’d love to hear from happy couples, real estate agents, interior designers and decorators, landlords with hilarious stories, and even builders and developers who have had first hand experience encountering couples in the sales offices and presentation centres.
Stay tuned - our Home is Where the Heart Is features will be popping up all February! Can’t wait to dive into this month with you!
