Is Harmony Village the Right Community for You?
By Lucas on Mar 24, 2015
City Core Developments is developing a master-planned condo community in Toronto called Harmony Village Sheppard, which will be the ideal environment for all, including singles, couples, families and retirees. We are getting very excited about the new release that is coming soon!
The idea of Harmony Village Sheppard stemmed from City Core CEO Jack Pong’s experience having his mother diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and moving her to a round the clock nursing facility. It weighed heavily on him that he could not provide a better environment for her to be treated and cared for.

When it comes to amenities and services offered at Harmony Village, Pong’s passion really shines. There are really too many amenities to list. Harmony Village features 35,000 square feet of amenities, including fitness facilities, spaces for recreational classes, a swimming pool, garden plots, multiple outdoor lounge areas, and a greenhouse/winter garden area. There are also health and wellness programs that residents can opt into. There’s even the option to have meals delivered to your room.

Harmony Village is going to come together with “Universal Design” in mind. This means that all the spaces will be accessible by everyone no matter what your age or ability is. A few examples include lowered light switches, easy access showers, wheelchair access, and number of other features that promote independence and safety.
The majority of the buyers in the first tower at Harmony Village are Chinese, due to City Core’s partnership with a feng shui expert who has designed each space to be perfectly balanced, creating a true sense of harmony no matter where you are in the community.
The first tower of Harmony Village is 30 storeys and is comprised of 291 units ranging from 388 to 1,071 square feet. Prices start in the low $180,000s and range up to just over $500,000. The second phase of the master-planned community features another tower, as well as townhomes and mid-rise units.

A condo community with the future in mind
Harmony Village will be certified as a LEED Gold development thanks to the use of solar panels and geothermal renewable energy. The geothermal system involves digging 750 foot wells beneath the condo, harnessing clean and sustainable energy from the earth. Geothermal provides augmented water heating, snow melt areas, reliable cooling and heating, and low operating expenses. There’s also zero pollution and it’s very quiet so you don’t even know it’s working right beneath your feet.
The community will be protected from power failures thanks to its onsite co-generation system, which allows them to operate with little dependence on the city’s grid. This system also captures excess heat and uses it to warm the swimming pool.
Any developer who includes sources of energy like a geothermal system and solar panels clearly has the future of the environment in mind, and we believe it will go a long way and appeal to many new homebuyers in the GTA. Without a doubt, sustainability has become a strong selling point in the new home industry, and City Core is tapping into it in style.
