Geranium Homes recently presented a cheque in the amount of $5,500 to support Habitat for Humanity, Northumberland. “On behalf of our new homeowners at The Verandas in Port Hope, our staff and management we are pleased to be delivering on our promise to assist this excellent organization. We are fortunate to be sharing our success with such a worthy cause,” said Boaz Feiner, president of the company’s housing division.
On hand to receive the cheque were Meaghan Macdonald, Executive Director and Board member, Gwyer Moore. “Geranium Homes is an example of someone who builds beautiful homes for families, yet also recognizes the need to partner with us to provide affordable homes for those who may not otherwise enjoy home ownership,” said Ms. Macdonald. “We commend and thank Geranium for this gift.”
The donation will help to kick-off Habitat’s campaign to raise $75,000 to build a 7th home in Port Hope, and the 44th in Northumberland County. The proposed home would be part of Habitat for Humanity Northumberland’s development on Harcourt Street. “The money donated by Geranium Homes will travel 5 km to Harcourt Street – the money truly does stay right in the community!” she added.
At the opening of its three decorated Model Homes for The Verandas, Geranium announced that for every home sold in the neighbourhood, it would donate $100. “This amount represents the total for the first phase of homes,” said Feiner. A second phase of lots is currently being serviced and with sales continuing to go well Geranium expects to be making another donation in a year.
The Verandas has attracted empty nesters and young families who appreciate the variety of bungalow designs and affordability of these fully detached Energy Star® labeled homes.
Three fully furnished and decorated Model Homes are open to tour. Set on 42- and 48-foot lots, 10 different floorplans of two- and three-bedrooms are available with optional plans for more choice; including finished basement areas. Sizes range from 1,118 sq. ft. up to 2,397 sq. ft. (with optional finished lower level included). Phase 2 prices start from $277,900 for a 42-foot lot.
Located just minutes from Port Hope’s historic downtown, The Verandas will have a landscaped park, walking paths and gazebo overlooking a pond upon completion. In a private enclave setting, the 117 homes have attractive exteriors featuring covered front porches and heritage influenced maintenance-free materials designed for beautiful streetscapes.
Geranium Homes has been creating family neighbourhoods across Ontario for 35 years. In 2012, Geranium Homes won top industry awards: receiving The Building Industry and Land Development (BILD) Association’s “Home Builder of the Year” and the 2011 Canadian Home Builders’ Association Grand SAM Award.
