Very rarely do we come across a marketing campaign that we consider newsworthy, but Empire pushed the creative boundaries on this one, and we won’t be surprised if everyone’s soon talking about their new Caledonia community, Avalon.
To promote Avalon, Empire created an interactive social media application, allowing you to generate a personal video about life in Avalon, and the video is starring you! All you have to do is login with Facebook and answer a few multiple choice questions. Don’t worry, the app won’t share anything to your Facebook profile without your permission.
Once you’ve logged in, you will be asked how many bedrooms you need in your new home, what your favourite indoor and outdoor activities are, what you like to do on a Saturday night, and your preferred interior design style. While the video is loading, some fun facts about Caledonia and Empire are shared, like how every Empire home is ENERGY STAR qualified.
The video starts with a sneak peek of the Avalon community, showing a glimpse of the streetscape, and the whole thing is from your point-of-view, so it’s like you’re experiencing the move into your new home. Then there are a few highlights of local Caledonia amenities and you get to see a few interior renderings!
The video is about a minute and a half long and easily keeps your attention because you are watching for glimpses of your personal life. Empire has found a way to generate interest in their new community and share valuable information like interior and exterior renderings in a fun way, all while promoting the variety of neighbourhood amenities in Caledonia.

Empire will be launching Phase 1 of Avalon this April. The 530-acre master-planned community will be comprised of 3,000 new homes in total.
The community will be located at McClung Road and Haldimand Road 66, north of the Grand River, just a few minutes away from downtown Caledonia. We could list all of the recreation opportunities and other amenities that the area has to offer, but it makes more sense for you to watch your own video!
