Recently, we discussed how a few Toronto developers are incorporating the latest technology in their condo projects to appeal to homebuyers. We’re seeing everything from state-of-the-art gaming rooms to fibre optic wiring being offered.
When we think of technological advancements, our minds jump straight to entertainment - smart TVs, new phones and tablets, and new gaming consoles top our want-lists. Forget all that for a second and consider a gadget that would benefit the health of you and your home.
We stumbled upon CubeSensors via TechCrunch.com’s coverage of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The idea is simple: Simply place one of these stylish, wireless cubes in each room of your home and receive feedback on your phone, computer, or tablet about a number of factors that affect your health, productivity, and comfort.
There are sensors in the cubes that measure air quality (detects anything harmful to you), temperature, humidity, noise, light, and weather pressure. To receive tips and advice from the cubes, just open the app and it will give you detailed readings of your home’s status.
Some tips are pretty straightforward, like it will tell you to turn on a light if your office is too dimly lit, but the cubes can also tell you when your home is at a higher risk of flu transmission, if your walls are at risk of growing mold, or why you’re sleeping poorly.
There are a number of external, controllable factors that determine our health and mood, we just don’t think of them most of the time. That’s where CubeSensors come in.
Since the cubes are small, sleek, and wireless, they can be easily placed around your home. If this kind of product takes off, do you think builders and developers will ever include CubeSensors (or something like it) as a standard feature in housing developments?
