Fuss-free plants that belong in your home

It’s no secret that plants can bring a space to life and make any new space feel more like a home. They’re also a seasonal staple during the warmer months. But, once you experience the sharp pang of coming home to brown, dried out leaves that were luscious and green mere weeks ago, it’s easy to get discouraged and opt for plastic plants instead.
Even though tending to plants can be a challenging feat, they boast benefits beyond compare. Plants filter out household toxins, and their presence alone can lower blood pressure, aid anxiety, and improve your overall well-being.
Considering the vast array of potted plants to choose from and all of their unique needs and characteristics, tending to plants can still seem uber intimidating.
Thankfully, there are fuss-free plants that require minimal maintenance and won’t succumb to scarce waterings, giving hope to those that may be forgetful, inexperienced, or overwhelmingly busy.
So, even if you haven’t settled into your green thumb, rest assured that these resilient, low-maintenance plants are built to last:
1) Cast-Iron Plant
Via Thriving in low light and dry soil, the Cast-Iron Plant can endure extreme weather conditions and withstand irregular watering. While it may take a while for the Cast-Iron Plant to grow, its lengthy life expectancy makes the wait worthwhile.
2) Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is renowned for its holistic healing properties and as a houseplant, it is favoured for its minimal maintenance requirements. Since it is recommended that the soil dries completely between waterings, you can often get away with watering your Aloe Vera twice a month.
3) Devil’s Ivy

In fact, the plant’s impressive relentlessness is believed to have inspired its politically incorrect nickname, the ‘Mother-in-law's Tongue’. The Snake Plant is tailored to the busy household, as it thrives when left alone and can even go an entire month without being watered.
5) ZZ Plant

Thanks to its long lifespan, the ZZ Plant has been deemed the Eternity Plant. The only off-putting attribute is that, while it doesn’t die, it usually doesn’t grow much either. The ZZ Plant is beloved for its glossy green leaves but its stagnant growth can be a deterrent. Still, it’s impervious to destructive pests and can endure long periods of neglect, which makes the ZZ Plant an ideal choice for frequent travellers who don’t have the time to continuously fuss over foliage.
6) Spider Plant
Via Like its namesake, Spider Plants are impressively elusive to death. With that, they require very little upkeep and can endure a wide array of harsh conditions. Owners will see their Spider Plants flourish when they’re not in direct sunlight and treated to regular, but infrequent watering. As an added plus, NASA named the Spider Plant among the top three household plants to rid your home of carbon monoxide, formaldehyde and other frightening toxins.
