Forward-Thinking Design at Minto30Roe
By Lucas on Dec 18, 2013
The New Year always brings changing trends and favourites for the home. In the coming year Pantone, the global authority on colour predicts that techno colour – inspired by the advancement of technology and its impact on society - is set to become 2014's most prominent home décor palette.
Leading the way in home décor, II BY IV introduces a futuristic design to Minto30Roe, using vibrant and deep hues that bounce off reflective surfaces. Turquoise, exuberant oranges, true blues against jet blacks are intertwined in inventive colour combinations, exactly hitting the mark on Pantone’s forecasted 2014 palette.
The sleek 34-storey condominium is under construction in the Yonge and Eglinton neighbourhood, with occupancy scheduled for December 2015. The building’s one bedroom to two bedroom plus den condominiums range from 503 to 945 square feet and are priced from the low $300,000s.
We caught up with Dan Menchions at II BY IV to find out about the influence of modern technology on design.

1) What piece of technology can you not live without?
My iPad. I love its intuitive nature, both in design and user functionality, the simplicity and clarity of the screen is fantastic, thankfully it is compact enough to go anywhere I do.
2) Beyond influencing the hues and shapes we see, how does technology play into the design at Minto30Roe?
Lighting: There is a multifaceted canopy over the front desk lit with LED lights to highlight each of the angled surfaces. This has become a beautiful feature to welcome guests as they enter the space.
WiFi: The entire building is wired for WiFi, similar to what you would find at a hotel. It is part of a bigger movement we are seeing with condominium development where buyers are seeking hotel-style amenities within the building.
3) How do you make a home feel warm and livable, while keeping its style fresh?
It is important to select colours and textures that warm up your space. Fabrics with great patterns and textures will help make a space feel more inviting, the same with choosing to feature a colour.
4) With such a futuristic looking space, how do you make sure the look will stay current?
The look is definitely meant to be forward thinking, we have focused on making the interiors of Minto30Roe a statement without being trendy. As a client Minto has been really great to work with because they truly encouraged innovative thinking on this project and we’re not afraid to make bold choices with their interiors.
