Hurry for an opportunity to own a spectacular new home, as the final release of suites has JUST become available. Plus, the developers are preparing to dig in and start building, so anyone interested should hurry to take advantage of pre-construction prices. Just imagine the prestige and fun of living in a condominium suite right in the city’s famous King Edward Hotel!

The King Eddy, which is located on the south side of King Street East at Victoria Street - steps from Toronto’s financial and entertainment districts. The level that was formerly a popular fashion mart in this architectural icon is being refurbished by King Edward Realty Inc. to create the exquisite suites that have proven so successful.

A lot has to do with the hotel’s storied past and the cachet it carries with it. The hotel was built by George Gooderham of Gooderham and Worts Distillery fame, and opened on May 11, 1903. The wealthiest man in Toronto at the time, he directed his architects Henry Ives Cobb and E.J. Lennox to design the French Renaissance-style eight-storey building named for King Edward VII. In 1921, the fabulous Crystal Ballroom was added and remained in use for the city’s most gala events until the late 1950s.

Over the past century, royalty, politicians, movie stars, famous authors and financial celebrities have stayed there. From The Beatles, who hid out from 3,000 screaming fans in the lobby in 1963, to Elizabeth Taylor, who accepted the 33.19-carat Krupp Diamond from Richard Burton during their scandalous stay in 1964, the list of prominent newsmakers who chose “The King Eddy” as their temporary home when they visited is long and impressive. In the newly revamped building, Starwood Hotels & Resorts will continue to manage the 298-room hotel under the Le Méridien brand.

King Edward Realty Inc., which is comprised of prestigious partners Dundee Realty Corporation, Alex Shnaider, Skyline International Development Inc., and Serruya Realty Group Inc, has enlisted ERA Architects to direct the restoration so that The King Eddy’s heritage, integrity and luxury is being retained. Owners will be surrounded by exquisite appointments, with transitional design evoking elegance without pretentiousness.

Suite owners will have the use of the hotel’s amenities and will enjoy a high level of features and finishes including principal room ceiling heights that soar up to 10 feet in height. Among the appointments are also smooth ceilings, pre-finished engineered hardwood flooring, deep window sills, and balconies, terraces and Juliet balconies, all as per plan.

Gourmet kitchens offer the choice of traditional or contemporary cabinetry with stone countertops and backsplashes. Purchasers can select from a wide variety of finishes available in three designer packages: the contemporary Crystal Collection that hearkens to the historic Crystal Ballroom; the classic Vanity Fair Collection named after the Vanity Fair Ballroom; and the sophisticated Windsor Collection honouring the King Eddy’s club rooms.

Act NOW for the incredible opportunity to own a piece of Toronto’s history. The remaining suites are available in sizes from 445 to 1,020 sq. ft. and starting from the low $300,000.00.
