Exhibit Condominiums transform Bloor

By on Jan 25, 2011

Bloor Street is about to see a transformation. Exhibit, the new condominium on Bloor just west of Avenue Road, is an artful statement with a design complimenting the architecture of Bloor Street.

Exhibit Toronto Bazis

Exhibit Residences, by Bazis, Metropia and Plazacorp, will be reflective of its cultural neighbourhood artfully blending breathtaking design set against the urban landscape in the heart of the Yorkville area. Given its position on Toronto’s “cultural avenue” across from the Royal Ontario Museum and steps to the Gardiner Museum, Royal Conservatory of Music and amid Toronto’s highest concentration of academics, artists and musicians, the name is appropriate.

Exhibit is no more than a few minutes from some of the city’s finest restaurants and within easy walking distance of luxury boutiques and specialty shops such as Tiffany’s, Gucci, Chanel, Prada and Holt Renfrew along Bloor Street and in the Yorkville area.  For quieter moments, residents can walk across the street to the scenic footpath and meandering green space, known as Philosopher’s Walk - a quiet, pastoral setting in the heart of the University of Toronto campus.

Like the artistic and intellectual community it resides in, Exhibit reflects the cultural richness of the neighbourhood. Designed by Roy Varacalli, one of the city's leading architects, the building is art itself, with an understated yet elegant design.

Located at 200 Bloor Street West, Exhibit will be an intimate building of just 200 suites over 32 floors. Suites in the building range from one bedroom units up to two bedroom plus den.  Every residence has been crafted with detailed luxury, from the Burdifilek exclusively-designed kitchen cabinetry to the outdoor fritted-glazed balconies. In addition, all of the suites in Exhibit have been oriented to the north or south offering magnificent everlasting panoramic views.

Exhibit is designed as four cubes oriented to Bloor Street and the Royal Ontario Museum directly across the street. The first two floors of the building have been reserved for retail space.  Each of the four cubes is slightly skewed, giving the appearance of stacking randomly in a vertical structure. Exhibit also has an ethereal quality, with the cube structures veiled with fritted glass and delivering a delicate, refined essence to this cultural pinnacle.

Unlike most condominium developments, however, Exhibit does not have an underground parking garage. The parking, located at the rear of the building, is comprised of eight levels above ground, veiled with the same fritted glass as the other cubes.  Residents living on those floors will have the convenience of parking their car on the same level as their suite.

Exhibit’s design addresses the buildings along Bloor Street, communicating an understated dialogue with Libeskind’s intervention on the ROM,” says Varacalli. Interior designer, Diego Burdi of the renowned international design group, Burdifilek, is poised to create interiors with both possibility and purpose, spaces with unexpected details and interesting explorations.

Those who seek finer things in life will appreciate the Entertainment Floor located on the ninth level of Exhibit and dedicated to entertaining. Diego Burdi has designed the spaces to be versatile. This floor has two lounges, one with a spectacular curved bar, and the other with a private dining room with catering kitchen, which can be adapted as intimate individual spaces or combined for larger social functions. Doors from the party room, with a linear fireplace, open onto an outdoor rooftop garden highlighted by a shimmering reflecting pool accented by a sculpture in the water. Private seating areas surround this green oasis framed by rows of trees.

One floor above, residents can work out in the fitness gallery equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, overlooking the garden below. Others can spend time in the yoga studio or relax with a friend in the lounge beside the cozy double-sided fireplace.

What is appealing about Exhibit is that it is a one-of-a-kind building in one of Toronto’s most sought after locations – close to world-class restaurants and luxury retail, yet nestled within a quieter more residential part of Bloor surrounded by the city’s cultural influence.

The Exhibit presentation office will open this spring and will be located at 162 Cumberland Street. Prices will start from the $500,000’s. To register call 416-967-7778 or visit the website at: www.exhibitresidences.com.
