Erskine Avenue: Turning the Corner
By Lucas on Nov 29, 2012
For years, major streets like Bloor and Yonge have been targeted for intensification, but developers have been identifying other pockets of Toronto that are ready for a turnaround. A great example is Charles St., a minor street near Bay and Bloor, where developers like Edenshaw, Aspen Ridge Homes, and Cresford all built new condos.
One street that could be dubbed the “Charles St.” of the north is Erskine Ave. Our friends over at Tridel recently brought 101 Erskine to the market - a plan that calls for a sleek, sophisticated tower. Well, now another developer is looking at Erskine Ave. as a spot to build their next Toronto project.
In an application submitted to the City of Toronto, The Pemberton Group (as identified by Urbanation), is looking to bring a new condominium tower to 18 Erskine Ave. The plan, as described in the application, calls for a new 31-storey tower, with 300 units, and a total of 153 parking spaces. The site is currently a surface parking lot, and occupied by a small convenience store.
No images or renderings of the project have surfaced, but we are confident that Pemberton will bring something impressive to the table, like always.
The City of Toronto deemed Yonge and Eglinton as an “area to grow” in their official plan, and for the past decade, it has been in the intensification crosshairs. MintoMidtown spearheaded the metamorphosis, and now other developers like Bazis, Madison Homes, and Tridel have started to contribute.
We are really looking forward to what Pemberton is planning for 18 Erskine Avenue!!
